BIIT Corner inaugurated at Central Library of CU

BIIT Corner was officially inaugurated at the Central Library of University of Chittagong (CU) on Wednesday, 18 December 2024. Professor Dr. Muhammad Shamim Uddin Khan, Vice Chancellor (Acting) of University of Chittagong, was the chief guest while Dr. M Abdul Aziz, Director General of Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT) was the special guest of the event.

The Acting Vice Chancellor of CU said, “University is a fertile field for knowledge creation and knowledge acquisition. It has been my long-standing dream to continue research activities on Islamic fundamentals. Today, the path of my dream has begun with the inauguration of ‘BIIT Corner’. With the inauguration of ‘BIIT Corner’ at Chittagong University Central Library, the opportunities for research on Islamic subjects have been opened for university teachers, researchers and students, including those concerned, to do research on Islamic subjects.

He also said, “The main foundations of our economy are 4: capitalist economy, socialist economy, mixed economy and Islamic economy. Among these, the research on Islamic economy and Islamization of knowledge is particularly important. Everything in the world changes, but Islamic foundations never change. I strongly urge researchers to do research on what science says about Islam.”

The Director General of BIIT said, the basic provisions of Islam play a very important role in the world of Islamic knowledge and thought. BIIT’s rich publication library includes books published by renowned writers from Bangladesh and the world. If sufficient space is provided in the Central Library of Chittagong University, then BIIT assures to supply more books. As a result, the teachers and students of the university will get the nourishment of Islamic knowledge.

The program was chaired and moderated by Professor Dr. Md. Enayet Ullah Patwary, Controller of Examination (Acting), University of Chittagong; while Professor Dr. Muhammad Zafar Ullah, Dean of the Faculty of Law; Professor Dr. Muhammad Atiar Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Professor Dr. Muhammad Neamat Ullah, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities; Professor Dr. A. K. M. Abdul Quader, former Chairman of the Department of Arabic; Professor Dr. Muhammad Farid Uddin Faruk, Director of Nazrul Research Institute; Professor Dr. Muhammad Alamgir, Librarian; several university officials and employees, and members of the BIIT delegation were attended in this grand opening ceremony.

In addition, the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT) is leading the global intellectual movement. Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT) is working as the Bangladesh chapter of this organization. Publishing original and translated books, teacher training, curriculum development, organizing seminars and symposiums are the basic functions of this organization. This organization has already signed MoUs with some public and private universities of Bangladesh and abroad.
